Gender Equity and Sensitisation
Shahid Matangini Hazra Government General Degree College for women always takes great initiatives to promote gender equality and provide support to the female students. Our college has organized seminars, counselling services, lectures, webinars, and camps to promote gender sensitivity and legal awareness in campus. The college has organized awareness programmes on domestic violence, mental health, street harassment, legal problems, adolescence etc. The gender sensitization programmes are most befitting to make our female students empowered. The zealous faculties try their level best to make the female students strong and bold enough to combat any kind of challenge in their life.
Adolescent Girls Awareness Camp
The college organized Adolescent Girls Awareness Camp to make our female students alert and aware of the strength, fears, and challenges related to the period of adolescence. Prof. Souti Basu discussed about the psychological changes and shortcomings in the adolescent girls. She gave emphasis on the ways to tackle the problems. Prof. Enakshi Das gave an overall knowledge of adolescence. Prof. Aditi Jana talked about the issues of cyber crimes, cyber security related to the adolescent girls of the age between 13-19. She also emphasized on the physical and emotional health of the adolescent girls. Prof. Piku Dasgupta of Political science department delivered her lecture in a captivating way. The session was an interactive one.
The department of Bengali organized the programme named ‘Narikatha’ to celebrate the International Women’s Day. The students and Faculties are enriched the programme through their participative performance by singing songs, reciting poems and delivering lectures. Everybody tried to explore the various avenues of women perception and women empowerment. It was a great endeavour undertaken by the department of Bengali to uphold the various issues of womanhood.
