In order to uphold the principles of equitable justice embedded in the Constitution of India, the UGC released the guidelines for the Scheme of Equal Opportunity Centre for Colleges during the XII Plan (2012-2017). The UGC guidelines for the Equal Opportunity Centre for Colleges say how the Indian Constitution had aimed to undo historical wrongs and promote democratization of education for social and economic mobility.
