Purpose of Geological Fieldwork in geology:

Fieldwork, an intrinsic part of geology  helps students to understand the spatial occurrences of different kinds of rocks in outcrops. It provides much of the data on which our knowledge of the Earth and its evolution along with that of life through time. Fieldwork provides to reinforces classroom learning and increases students' knowledge, skill, and subject understanding.  Field study gives students the best opportunity to learn about the structural disposition of the rock units. It helps to understand pattern recognition, in the field, on topographic and geologic maps and other data representations. so, field studies can be an effective mechanism to retain students in geology.
